Join us on Friday, May 20th at the Fourth Ward School Museum for a special recital of ragtime piano music from local musician Squeek Steele! Doors open at 6:30 P.M. and the recital begins at 7:00 P.M. Tickets will be sold at the door at a general admission rate of $5, and museum members are free! Beverages will be served for $5. All proceeds benefit the Historic Fourth Ward School Museum.
In preparation for her appearance at the 2022 Scott Joplin International Ragtime Festival in Sedalia, Missouri in June, Squeek will perform piano music from the ragtime era (1890s through the 1920s) featuring the compositions of Scott Joplin and other male composers but focusing on ragtime compositions by women composers of that era who have largely been forgotten. The 2022 Joplin Ragtime Festival is dedicated to these seminal women.
